The Gateway Arch was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen in 1947.

Construction of  Gateway Arch  began on February 12, 1963, and was completed on October 28, 1965.

The Gateway Arch monument opened to the public on June 10, 1967.

 To climb to the top of the arch by foot, you would have to take 1,076 steps where as the Willis Tower in Chicago take 2,109 steps.

 A small observation deck at the arch’s top was constructed having 65 feet long, 7 feet 2 inches across, and 6 feet 9 inches high.

The observation area have 16 windows on each side.

  The observation deck hold up to 160 people at a time.

The Gateway Arch weighs 43,220 pounds

The cost to build the arch totaled 13 million dollars.

A tram with 8 capsules on each leg of the arch was created.

 Each capsule holds 5 passengers.

The tram takes approximately 4 minutes to get up to the to of the arch at a speed of 340 feet per minute.

It is the world's tallest arch having 630 feet tall and 630 feet wide.
