General Specification Of A First Class Building
As we know the general specification is a short description of work like materials, proportions, quality, etc.
Here is the general specification of first-class building in civil engineering-


1 – Foundation
The foundation in the building shall be of first-class brickwork in cement mortar ratio 1:6 over 1:4:8 cement concrete.
2 – Plinth
The plinth in the building also shall be of first-class brickwork in cement mortar ration 1:6 over 1:4:8 cement concrete.
3 – Damp Proof Course (DPC)
In the first-class building, the damp proof course shall be 25 mm thick of cement ratio 1:3/2:3 and mixed with the water proofing material per bag of cement with two coats of bitumen ( bitumen is a material obtained by fractional distillation of crude petroleum ).
4 – Superstructure
In the first-class building, the superstructure shall be of first-class brickwork with a 1:6 cement mortar ratio.
And the lintel over doors and windows shall be constructed with reinforced cement concrete ( RCC ).
5 – Roofing
In the first class building construction, the roof shall be 100 mm thick with reinforced cement concrete slab (1:2:4) with terracing of 100mm lime above over R.C.C slab as required.
In the first-class building, the height of the room shall not be less than 3.5 meters.
6 – Flooring
In the first class building construction, the floors of the drawing-room, bathroom, toilet, dining room shall be of terrazzo.
The floors of the bedroom shall be coloured and polished with 25 mm Indian patent stone flooring (IPS) over 75 mm lime concreting.
And the other floors shall be 75mm lime concreting or 25mm Indian patent stone flooring (IPS).
7 – Finishing
The wall shall be plaster inside and outside with 12mm cement mortar of ratio 1:8.
The inside wall shall be distempered with two coats of whitewash and the outside wall shall be snowcem ( Improved waterproof cement paint) washed with two coats over one coat of whitewash.
8 – Windows And Doors
The windows in the first-class building work shall be provided with an iron grill and all the grill and wooden painted with the enamel paint over one coat of priming.
The shutters shall be 40mm panelled glazed and the chaukhat must be seasoned teak wood.
9 – Miscellaneous
The building must be hygienic, have good water fitting, and an electrical installation is provided in the building.
In the building, the pipe of rainwater must be of cost iron pine.
